   Biography

Begin birding in 1991 in Transylvania, as a member of the Romanian Ornithological Society.
In 2001 I have switched continents, to the little known Egyptian Eastern Desert, where I became the contact person of the Ornithological Society of the Middle East www.osme.org
At present I help to organize and conduct raptor identification training for the annual "Tom Coles Memorial Raptor Survey," held each year in April at the Gulf of Suez migratory bird flyway "bottleneck."
In Egypt, I am updating the birds of Egypt list for BLI/Africa, and I am the owner of a yahoo mailing group and a website, where some 175 Egyptian and other birders exchange observations and questions. I have established the first ringing camp in the Egyptian Eastern desert in 2006 and since 2007 this camp is part of SEEN, a ringing camp network set up by the "father" of modern bird ringing, Prof. Przemyslaw Busse.
At the moment, I am leading a project for the reintroduction of the Sacred Ibis to Egypt, in co-operation with LPO France, and working with Attila D. Sandor and Dick Forsman on a survey of the largest Sooty Falcon colony in the world, in the southern Red Sea.
