Robert J. Ritchie

   Biography

Bob Ritchie established himself as an Alaskan raptor biologist and natural resource specialist in the mid 1970's. His interests first focused on Peregrines and Bald Eagles, but he expanded his expertise to other raptors, waterfowl, and seabirds. He has been project leader for a number of avian studies that have included Peregrine Falcon, Gyrfalcon, Bald and Golden eagles, Northern Goshawk, Spectacled and Steller’s eiders, Tundra and Trumpeter Swans, and Brant and Snow Goose throughout Alaska. Many of these studies were conducted for preconstruction and environmental assessment phases of industrial developments such as mining developments, oil field exploration and development, and utility developments, but others have been related to long-term population monitoring and recovery of the Peregrine Falcon.
