| Taxonomy: Possibly a race of A. fasciatus or A. novaehollandiae (Clark 1994). |

| Movements: Non-migratory, but juveniles disperse from breeding areas (Bildstein 2006). |

| Habitat and Habits: Inhabits the interior of primary lowland and hill forest, occasionally occurring at the forest edge, where it perches motionless close to a tree trunk in the shaded understory (Coates and Bishop 1997, van Balen 1998). Occurs singly, in pairs, or occasionally in small family groups of three (Coates and Bishop op cit.). |

| Food and Feeding Behavior: Feeds on small terrestrial mammals, birds, and reptiles, pouncing on prey from a concealed perch in the forest understory (Coates and Bishop 1997). |

| Breeding: No information. |

| Conservation: Populations of this species are declining as a result of habitat loss and forest fragmentation (van Balen 1998). Categorized globally as a species of "Least Concern" by BirdLife International (2008). |
